The Terranova Group recognized for protecting two historic Charlotte estates

The Terranova Group LLC, a real estate developer based in Greenville, announced Aug. 11 it received the 2022 Preserver Award: Best Real Estate Developer from Preserve Mecklenburg Inc.

The company received to award to recognize its efforts to protect and preserve two historic landmarks in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area:

  • Frank R. McNinch House – a 100-year-old estate believed to have been inspired by President George Washington’s home, Mt. Vernon
  • Knowlton-Shaw House – a 1928 estate that was once home to one of Charlotte’s mayors

In addition to the preservation of these two historic homes, the Terranova Group’s master plan includes transforming the estates’ grounds into new, residential enclaves, including:

  • Foxcroft Place on Sharon Lane – will consist of eight private residences with pre-designed, but customizable home plans ranging from $2-2.5 million
  • Mecklenburg Park near the entrance of the Charlotte Country Club – a collection of eight cottages, priced from $1.495 million. Adjacent to the cottages are two estate-sized homesites reserved for custom homes

“Terranova Group is an exemplary partner for Preserve Mecklenburg’s efforts to keep Charlotte’s history alive through preservation of its oldest homes and businesses,” said Preserve Mecklenburg founding member Dan L. Morrill. “(Founder) Rob Haney understood the mission from the start. His vision and creativity in preserving the McNinch and Knowlton-Shaw homes in perpetuity while simultaneously developing new residences for families to build their own legacies is remarkable.”
