- The Nashville-based real estate firm submitted a site plan to redevelop land occupied by a Kroger in Belle Meade.
- A large portion of the project features greenspace, walkways and creek access.
AJ Capital Partners has proposed a complete redevelopment for the current site of the Belle Meade Kroger at 4500 Harding Pike.
The Nashville-based firm does not currently own the 10.53 acres which holds the grocery store and the Belle Meade Plaza strip mall. Plans also call for the redevelopment of a large parking lot for the shopping center.
About 6.4 acres — or around 61% of the land — would be dedicated to open space like dog parks, walkways and greenspace, according to documents filed with Metro Nashville. Plans show walking paths and overlooks integrated with Richland Creek, which is in part covered by existing parking structures.
Structures proposed in the documents include three residential buildings, a parking garage and shopping center with five separate buildings and more than 47,800 square feet of retail space.
Kroger previously confirmed plans to move the grocery store’s location.
Representatives of AJ Capital did not comment on the proposed site plan. The Metro Planning Commission is set to review plans at its Feb. 9 meeting, and community engagement meetings will be conducted to gauge resident opinions and integrate feedback.
AJ Capital has been active in other areas of Nashville in recent years, transforming sections of the Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood and recently closing on the purchase of music venue Exit/In.
