The Peace Walk begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Martin Luther King, Jr. memorial in front of Riverside City Hall, 3900 Main Street in Riverside, and concludes at the John Lewis memorial mural in front of the future site of the Mission Heritage Plaza, 3900 Mission Inn Avenue at Fairmount Blvd. The peace walk will be along Downtown Riverside’s Main Street Pedestrian Mall with stops at the Cesar Chavez, Dosan Ahn Chang Ho, Mahatma Gandhi, and Eliza Tibbets memorials.

The Groundbreaking Ceremony will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:40 p.m.

Mission Heritage Plaza will open in 2022 and will contain new offices for the Fair Housing Council of Riverside County. In addition, it will be the home of the Civil Rights Institute of Inland Southern California, a museum and repository for the civil rights history of the region. Open space for community gatherings has been incorporated into the design.

Mission Heritage Plaza will also feature 72 affordable housing units. The project is being developed in partnership with Wakeland Housing and Development Corporation.

All guests must wear face coverings and follow public health guidance to help slow the spread of COVID-19. There is limited capacity; RSVP is required to (951) 682-6581 or on Eventbrite.
