Midwest Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame: NAI Global Logistics’ Dan Leahy – REjournals.com

Each year, Midwest Real Estate News inducts a new class into its Midwest Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame. Last year was no exception. Today, we look at the busy career of one of these new inductees, Dan Leahy, executive vice president of industrial services with NAI Global Logistics in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.

Dan Leahy has played a major role in the Chicago-area commercial real estate business. He’s the founding member and managing director of NAI Global Logistics. This means he’s been involved in many of the biggest industrial deals throughout the Chicago area.

During the last 24 years, Leahy has completed more than 550 transactions totaling more than $2 billion in transaction volume. With this record, it’s not surprising that Leahy is considered one of the country’s top industrial brokers.

A look at his client list, and the big names on it, is further evidence of the strong career Leahy has built. His clients include Walmart, JP Morgan, Prologis, IDI Logistics, Brookfield Properties and CenterPoint Properties.

A look at Leahy’s most significant transactions shows that the biggest names in industrial real estate are happy to trust him with their biggest deals.

Leahy, for instance, closed a more than 3.3-million-square-foot deal for Walmart. He has closed more than 70 transactions for CenterPoint properties and 54 for TA Realty. Leahy has closed more than 30 transactions for International Storage Properties and 11 for Metropolitan Warehouse & Delivery.

You don’t earn this much business from such major players unless you demonstrate a proven ability to close deals and a commitment to working tirelessly for clients. Leahy has done this, and the results have been exceptional during his career of more than two decades.

Leahy’s fellow commercial real estate professionals have long honored this industry veteran for his work ethic, industry smarts and record of success. He has been nominated for the Chicago Industrial Broker of the Year award 14 times and has won it five times. NAIOP awarded him on five separate occasions for the Industrial Broker Transaction of the Year.

Leahy has also appeared as a keynote speaker or panelist at a variety of industrial real estate events and has been published in industrial real estate and logistics trade publications.

In his spare time, Leahy enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He also supports several philanthropic and academic organizations, including Evans Scholars, Catholic Charities, IC Catholic Prep and Culver Academies.
