The downtrend in homeownership stretched to a decade in 2014.
Rates fell across nearly all age groups, incomes, household types, and markets despite the affordability of first-time homebuying. Recent trends point to continued declines in the share of households owning homes, although signs of a turnaround in household income growth
and some easing of lending constraints may mean that the pace of decline is set to slow.
