RIVERSIDE, CALIF. — April 20, 2021. The Fair Housing Act is a national law that prohibits any discrimination in the sale, rental, and financing of housing on the basis of race, color, nationality, religion, and gender. Following the passage of the Fair Housing Act in April 1968, various activist groups and leaders have since joined hands around this month to celebrate this great achievement in the history of America.
Where we live matters a lot. Stable and safe homes provide the environment and a strong foundation for vibrant and thriving communities. There is a direct relationship between housing opportunities and matters such as health disparities, especially for the minority communities who experience bigotry.
On that note, Eric L. Frazier interviews Caroline Peattie about her organization’s role in promoting fair housing and in addressing the issue of housing discrimination.
