The industry categories are based on the 1990 Census Bureau industrial classification scheme. The industry variable on the 1990 basis is not available for the 2015 CPS ASEC data at the Integrated
Public Use Microdata Series. As a result the 2014 ASEC was used in the industry analysis. The analysis collapsed the adults’ detailed industry into 16 industrial aggregates.
